Darren Thomas strained his back in the second quarter severely hurting Oregon's offense. Kenjon Barner opened up the second half with a long TD run to make it 21 -14. Auburn responded with a 55 yard field goal to make it 24 -14. On the very next play from scrimmage Lamichael James ran 81 yards for a touchdown making it 24 - 21 with 3 min left in 3rd quarter. Oregon got the ball back and scored again to make it 28 - 24 with 1 minute left in the third. After recovering a fumble on the next kickoff Oregon scored on a pass to make it 35 - 24 at the end of the third. A Dyer run made it 35 - 30 after failing on the two point conversion with 4 mins left in the fourth. Darron Thomas came back in the fourth quarter but his first drive stalled. Cam Newton scored on a 46 yard run, but auburn failed on the two point conversion making the game 36 - 35 with under 3 mins left in the 4th. Oregon mised another field goal with under 2 minutes to go giving auburn the ball. Newton scored on another run making the score 43 - 35 with 1 minute left. Oregon was able to score and tie it up at 43 to send it into overtime. Auburn scored first with a pass to Cody Burns. Oregon matched it making the score 50 - 50. Auburn intercepted the ball in the first overtime allowing Auburn to win on a field goal 53 - 50.
