Leaked videos from the USS Enterprise don't look too good for the Navy. Full of raunchy humor, inappropriate jokes and homophobic slurs, the videos may get Captain Owen P. Honors Jr. into a lot of trouble. It's also a great example of low-budget government video work.
The videos were an attempt by Honors at getting the crews attention as it instructed them on ship board safety and rules, which that it did. The Navy does not like its depictions of what is thought to be humorous by the officer who made the video. Navy Commander Chris Sims gave a statement to the media saying “this was not acceptable then (when the videos were made) and it is not acceptable in today’s Navy.”
The Navy will continue with its investigation and it is most likely safe to say the videos are no longer used for passing on the mundane information that everyone must learn.
