Zorrilla is a kind of skunk living in sub-Saharan Africa. Some people consider that Zorrilla is the smelliest animal on earth because the stench can be smelled half a mile away! Imagine that! Their odor is so strong that most animals avoid them. They are always alone, except during the mating season.
You can find them in the savannas and grasslands. So potent are the scent glands on this little skunk-like critter, that predators know well in advance not to venture anywhere near it. Besides emitting “foul-smelling secretions from its anal glands”, it also enjoys playing dead and climbing trees.Zorrilla animal is one of the smelliest animals on the face of the planet, with anus glands that can be smelled from a half-mile away!
And although it is not particularly large or ferocious, it has few natural enemies, because it stinks so much that few animals want to come close enough to eat them. The zorilla lives in Sub-Saharan Africa, except for forest and moist woodlands zone, also rare or absent in part of Somalia. In Sudan the Zorilla is called by the name that means "father of stinks".
Unfortunately, Zorrillas are rarely seen because of their late-night activity. They are widespread, although localized. Zorillas adapt easily to many habitats, including human habitation. They are not yet in need of protection.
