WWE Royal Rumble 2011 : Championship Matches & Results

The Royal Rumble 2011 is scheduled to be held on this Sunday, January 30, 2011, starting at 8PM EST on Pay-Per-View. The event will take place in Boston, MA. The main event just takes place to have a few ties to Oklahoma also, in the form of Royal Rumble contestant Jack Swagger and former commentator, Jim Ross.

There are 28 of the 40 Royal Rumble contestants name for 2011 have been declared, check out the list:

Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, Darren Young, David Hart Smith, David Otunga, Drew McIntyre, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, Husky Harris, Jack Swagger, John Cena, John Morrison, Justin Gabriel, Mark Henry, Mason Ryan, Michael McGillicutty, Primo, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Ted DiBiase, Tyson Kidd, Wade Barrett, William Regal, Yoshi Tatsu, Zack Ryder.
2-on-1 Handicap Match for the Divas Championship: Champion Natalya vs. Lay-Cool (Michelle McCool & Layla) - I think that the Divas title match at WrestleMania XXVII will involve the erosion of the current friendship between Natalya and Beth Phoenix. To get there,

World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Edge vs. Dolph Ziggler - The history of this event features several title matches involving a long-time mid-card star getting a title shot as a test to see whether they are worthy of future main event status. Some have passed this test at this event (ex: Chris Benoit) while others never got another title shot again on PPV (ex: Hardcore Holly). Dolph Ziggler is an incredible in-ring talent from bell-to-bell.

World Heavyweight Championship at this event. Predicted Winner: Edge
WWE Championship: Champion The Miz vs. Randy Orton - This is a very similar situation to what happened last year at this show. Sheamus had recently won his first WWE Championship and found himself defending the title against Randy Orton. The difference is that this will the Miz's second PPV title defense on PPV as opposed to Sheamus who was having his first. Last month, the Miz beat Orton in a Tables Match. I see a similar outcome this month due to the aid of Michael Cole. Predicted Winner: The Miz

The Royal Rumble Match
The decision to go to 40-wrestlers: On the one hand, the decision to go to 40-wrestlers just adds 10 more names to the list of people with no shot of winning this thing. However, with the influx of new talent related to the Nexus and Corre, if this was still a 30-man match, that storyline involving those groups would have dominated this bout. In this case, Triple H make his return at this show. Since two of the last three Rumbles were won by someone making a surprise return at this event and there has already been a Rumble won by Triple H making his return to the ring, I don't see Triple H winning this one.
