A frog is attacked and eaten by an Epomis beetle.The study found the genus Epomis is represented in Israel by two species: E. dejeani and E. circumscriptus. The researchers recorded Epomis sharing shelter with amphibians during the day, but preying on them during the night. In the laboratory, predation behaviour of the adult beetles on five amphibian species was observed.Senior author Gil Wizen says, "Amphibians are typical insect predators and their diet may include adult beetles, ground beetles in particular.

The recently filmed successful attacks of the beetles on toads and frogs brought new insights on the amphibian-insect interactions, and documented the uncommon phenomenon of invertebrates preying on vertebrate animals."

The lab results show that the beetle is a specialized predator of amphibians despite its larger size. Take a look:-

Big-Foot Knobby or one similar to it cross the road in front of the truck we were in and run into the woods. It came from out of the field from the direction of the creek and we later took photos of feet prints in a freshly plowed field.

I jumped from the truck and took this video of it as it crossed the road in front of us. At one point in the video it made a snarling growling sound and looked back at me.



I also shot the other video posted with this one while I and my friend Carolyn Wright were trying to see where it went to. I heard it breaking branches as it ran out of my sight into very thick brush.

107 Pilot Whales Dead On New Zealand Beach A pod of 107 pilot whales stranded on a remote New Zealand beach have died, including 48 that were put down, the government's conservation department said.

The stranded whales were discovered by hikers on Sunday near Cavalier Creek on Stewart Island, off the southern tip of New Zealand's South Island.

All members of a pod of 107 pilot whales that beached on a remote New Zealand island have died.The whales were well up the beach and the tide was receding, leaving little chance of keeping them alive until more rescuers could arrive.

Pilot whales are about 13 feet to 20 feet long and are the most common species of whale in New Zealand waters. Whale strandings are common in New Zealand.

Last month, 24 pilot whales died after stranding on the north island.

TOWN OF STOCKTON,Wis :- An investigation is under way after 200 dead cows were found in a field in the Town of Stockton.Investigators with the Portage County Sheriff's Office said the owner of the cattle has been working with a local veterinarian and it's believed the animals died from the IBR/BVD virus. The virus can cause respiratory and reproductive problems.

Friday on a farm in Portage County, Wisconsin. The dead cows had to be removed with semi-trucks. The rest of the farm has not been quarantined, as officials say no threat is posed toward humans or other animals.

Dead cows was working with a local veterinarian, who initially believed a virus such as infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) or bovine virus diarrhea (BVD) could be the culprit, according to The Wausau Daily Herald. WSAW News reports that more recent updates have suggested pneumonia as the cause of the mass cow deaths, though such widespread cases of pneumonia are rare.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the death of 200 cows in Portage County.The 200 dead cattle were discovered on a farm field on 4th street in Amherst. Today, the bodies were taken out in semi-loads to be disposed of.
The Portage County Sheriff's Department says the animals died of a virus that causes respiratory and reproductive problems.

The owner has been working with a veterinarian, who couldn't be reached for comment today. Samples from the dead animals have been sent to Madison for testing.Investigators say there is no threat to people or other animals. The Portage County Humane Society is investigating the cow deaths.
