Verizon Launch LTE 4G IPhone In Early 2011

The "iPhone would be a plus for Verizon, but not a seismic industry change, given the relative stickiness of smartphone customers," Ratcliffe wrote in that June 22 research note. "[The] primary source of Verizon iPhone [subscribers] would be pent-up demand by existing Verizon [subscribers]." He predicted that, while between 500,000 and 1 million AT&T customers would switch to Verizon's iPhone, the net total of Verizon subscribers would only increase by 900,000 in 2011.

Verizon sent out crimson envelopes to announce an event to be held in New York next Tuesday, launching a thousand blog posts at week's end. The speculation? That the largest U.S. wireless carrier will finally be available for the iPhone.

Earlier this week at CES, Verizon announced its first tablet and phone for its new '4G' high-speed wireless data network. Verizon's may be the fastest wireless network in the country at the moment, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But for now, you can't use your iPhone on it.

Verizon is late to the iPhone party and while getting a CDMA version to sell will be a good thing, the carrier surely wants some sort of exclusive to hold over AT&T. What better exclusive than a white iPhone 4 that is available no where else?
