Tonight was a smorgasbord of stimuli for any devoted 'How I Met Your Mother' fan. We got the return of Sandy Rivers, flashbacks to every on-camera embarrassing moment for Robin, an appearance by Marshall's parents, and Barney's real doppelganger -- a fertility specialist, of all things.

The whole episode it’s like a running gag, a joke. And then the ending hits you. The ending was a complete shock. Gut wrenching but brilliant. Acting, writing, timing, the realization that all that time the countdown was truly for the bad news. I think most fans will either love that ending or hate it. It’s easy to draw lines between shows and maybe I just miss Scrubs, but I felt much the same as when JD’s dad or Ben died. Those moments are nice to reflect on, but you do have to remind myself this is a comedy.

Tragedy aside, seeing Alexis Denisof return was a blast. In fact, this was one of the funnier episodes in a while until the end.

BEEBE, Arkansas -- Wildlife officials are trying to determine what caused more than 1,000 black birds to die and fall from the sky over an Arkansas town.

The birds had fallen Friday night over a 1-mile area of Beebe, and an aerial survey indicated that no other dead birds were found outside of that area. The workers from U.S. Environmental Services started the cleanup Saturday.

The agency also said another possibility is that New Year's Eve revelers shooting off fireworks in the area could have startled the birds from their roost and caused them to die from stress.
